Ruud Voesten (1987) is a drummer and composer currently living in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
He studied with Joop van Erven, René Creemers, Joost Patočka and Hans van Oosterhout and earned his master's degree in 2015 at the Codarts Conservatory.
Ruud leads his own band, ROEST, with whom he recently released their new ep, called 'Inloopmuziek'. ‘Inloopmuziek’ is the second release of ROEST and was presented on the 25th of January at a sold out ‘RAUW – jazz tot het pijn doet’. Organized by Ruud to present his new music and to celebrate the edgy jazz from Rotterdam, RAUW featured 3 other bands operating on the borders of jazz and other popular styles.
In 2022 Ruud organised the first edition of alternative jazz festival Branie. Due to Corona restrictions no audience was allowed, but all bands and visual artists colaborated to create live recorded music with visuals, published online.
Besides ROEST, Ruud works is part of the Rok Zalokar Trio (Erasmus Jazz Prijs 2016, NSJ, InJazz) and country/jazz trio Fish Country.
During the years Ruud collaborated with a lot of different artists, like Bob Stoloff, Tamir Hendelman, Stefan Lievestro, Jasper van Damme, Lars Dietrich, Bart Tarenskeen, Wiro Mahieu, Miguel Boelens and played and recorded extensively with the projects Krach, Rok Zalokar Trio and now ROEST.
Also Ruud teaches drums and bandcoaching at musicschool Moz Art in Nieuwerk aan den IJssel (NL) and in his own studio in Rotterdam (NL).
