'Ambrosia II' out now!

The much anticipated follow up of Voesten's debut record Ambrosia will be out November 7th. During a residency in 'Il Palmerino'' in Dante's own Florence, Voesten continued Dante's musical journey with the climb of mount Purgatory. Ruud Voesten (1987) is a drummer and composer currently living in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

He studied with Joop van Erven, René Creemers, Joost Patočka and Hans van Oosterhout and earned his master's degree in 2015 at the Codarts Conservatory.

Voesten leads his own band, Ambrosia, for which he writes music inspired by Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. See the 
Together with Wietse Voermans he co-leads the project Genius Loci (=spirit of the place). Working in residency form, they translate unique buildings and locations to improvisation and composition. 

In 2022 Voesten organised the first edition of alternative jazz festival Branie. Due to Corona restrictions no audience was allowed, but all bands and visual artists colaborated to create live recorded music with visuals, published online.

During the years Voesten collaborated with a lot of different artists, like Ben van Gelder, Reinier Baas, Benjaming Herman, Stefan Lievestro, and Jasper van 't Hof and played and recorded extensively with the projects Krach, Rok Zalokar Trio and ROEST.
He performed at venues and festivals like Bimhuis, De Doelen, Amare, North Sea Jazz and Injazz. Touring led him to Italy, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Denmark, Croatia, Slovenia and many other countries.

As a teacher, Voesten is connected to CKC & Partners in Zoetermeer, where he teaches drums and bandcoaching. He has a private practice in his own studio in Rotterdam (NL).

Voesten is part of artistic breeding ground 'Batavierhuis' in Rotterdam.
